Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The number of Chinese and Indian tourists to Malaysia registering e-visa services has sharply increased in recent time, local New Straits Times newspaper reported on June 7.
According to Tourism Malaysia Chairman Siew Ka Wei, total of 284,606 Chinese tourists have applied e-visas between March 2016 and April 2017.
Meanwhile, Indian tourists’ e-visa applications have jumped from 36,442 in March 2017 to 69,635 in April 2017, up 91 percent.
The number of e-visa applications from the world’s two most populous markets will further increase since the country finishes policies related to multipurpose visa which allows travellers to Malaysia to visit other nations in and out the Southeast Asian region, according to Siew.
Considering China and India important markets for its tourism sector, Malaysia has taken a number of measures, including e-visa and special price treatment, to create favourable conditions for visitors from those countries.
