Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia has collaborated with Thailand in holding an avian influenza simulation exercise.
The annual national-level took place in the state of Kedah , Malaysia on March 31 and continues in Thailand on April 1.
According to Malaysian Health Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah, the exercise is to assess the level of preparedness of each agency involved, as well as strengthening the collaboration between the two countries in responding to cross-border infectious diseases.
The last highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Malaysia was in 2007.
Since 2011, the country has carried out simulation exercises and invited health ministries from other ASEAN countries to send observers.-VNA
