Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will not face a confidence vote on May 18 as earlier scheduled, the speaker of the parliament said on May 13 after the government cited the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic as a priority.
The postponement is due to the complex developments of COVID-19 in the Southeast Asian country and the government’s wish to concentrate on preventing and controlling the pandemic.
The delay was officially announced by Speaker of the Parliament Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
The next parliamentary session is schedule to take place from July 13 to August 27 but the date for the confidence vote has yet to be fixed.
