Medlatec becomes first Vietnamese unit winning US testing accreditation

The analysis centre of Medlatec General Hospital has received CAP (College of American Pathologists) Laboratory Accreditation, becoming the first in Vietnam to win the US standard on testing.

Hanoi (VNA) – The analysis centre of Medlatec General Hospital has received CAP (College of American Pathologists) Laboratory Accreditation,becoming the first in Vietnam to win the US standard on testing.

Speaking at a recent conference,Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan spoke highly of Medlatec's efforts to promote testing quality.

Trinh Thi Que, Director of the Medlatec analysis centre,said that the winning of this certificate proves that the quality of testing is guaranteed, and doctorscan diagnose a disease early and accurately, thereby leading to highertreatment results.

This is an important criterion for Medlatec's test results tobe used widely around the world.

At present, over 8,000 facilities of 53 nations have won theCAP accreditation.

Vietnam moves toward universal free annual health checkups from 2026

Every Vietnamese citizen from 2026 onward will be entitled to at least one free annual medical checkup or screening. Each individual will also have a digital health record integrated into the national digital identification platform VNeID, enabling authorities and healthcare providers to manage health data in a synchronised and continuous manner.

Ho Chi Minh City rolls out electronic health records on digital citizen app

Under the plan, each resident will be assigned a unique EHR linked to their personal identification number, ensuring accuracy and consistency while minimising duplication and data discrepancies. Health data will be continuously updated from medical facilities, routine check-ups, and screening programmes, then integrated and centrally displayed on the application.
