Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Chairman of the National Assembly’s External Affairs Committee Nguyen Van Son and Cuba ’s Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesman Turro Gonzalez were among those in attendence.

Addressing the function, Deputy PM Khiem highlighted important events in the solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people always affirmed a consistent stance of supporting Cuba ’s just revolutionary cause, he said.

He also said he hoped that the two countries would continue to boost solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, contributing to the cause of national construction and defence.

Ambassador Gonzalez said that via delegation exchange at all levels, implementation of economic, trade, sci-tech, cultural, education and health agreements and standing side by side at international organisations and forums, the cooperation and solidarity between the two countries had been consolidated and deepened.

The same day, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung cabled a message of congratulation to Fidel Castro Ruz, first Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPCCC) and Raul Castro Ruz, second Secretary of the CPCCC.

In the message, the Vietnamese leaders affirmed the great significance of the establishment of the Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic ties in each country’s external relations.

The Vietnam Party, State, Government and people always bear in mind the precious solidarity and support of the Cuban Party, State, Government and people, they said.

Vietnam reiterates its consistent stance of supporting Cuba ’s just revolutionary cause, the messages said.

On Nov. 30, Ambassador Gonzalez also attended and delivered a speech at an exchange with young people held by the Vietnam -Cuba Friendship Association’s the Vietnam News Agency chapter./.
