More than 60,000 people have flocked to the Mekong Seafood Trade Fair 2013 to buy high-quality Vietnamese goods.
Some booths at the fair, which took place in the southernmost province of Ca Mau province from October 29 to November 4, ran out of goods as businesses offered discounts of 10-30 percent.
Nearly 200 prestigious businesses nationwide showcased their products ranging from processed seafood to machines and materials serving agricultural production.
Aquatic farming models that apply advanced technology and prove high economic efficiency such as rice-shrimp and shrimp-forest were also introduced during the event.
According to Tran Van Bo, Director of the province’s Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion Centre, the fair aimed to not only encourage local people to actively respond to the “Vietnamese people use Vietnamese goods” campaign but also bring businesses, producers, distributors and consumers closer.
It also offered a chance for farmers in Ca Mau and neighbouring provinces to buy high-quality made-in-Vietnam agricultural materials at reasonable prices, he added.
The event, the largest of its kind held in Ca Mau, was co-organised by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and the provincial People’s Committee.-VNA
