Mekong sub-region tourism infrastructure project passed

The Prime Minister recently ratified ADB-funded Project on Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.
The Prime Minister recently ratified ADB-funded Project on Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committees of Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Tay Ninh and Kien Giang provinces will implement the project in the 2014-2019 period.

The project aims to enhance urban-rural connectivity, improve urban environmental conditions, strengthen institutional capacity for tourism destination management, and raise the efficiency of project implementation and knowledge management.

In addition, the project will also help increase cross-border tourism to the benefit of those living in underdeveloped segments of the GMS economic corridors including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The project will improve tourism-related infrastructure, human resources development, protection of the environment, and the development of multicounty tourism products and services.-VNA
