Vietnam determined to strengthen friendship with Cuba

The Vietnamese National Assembly will continue close cooperation with its Cuban counterpart through increased high-level visits and exchanges, inter-parliamentary group initiatives, sharing of legislative experience, and active coordination at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other multilateral parliamentary forums.

On the morning of September 1, at the Presidential Palace, Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse hosted the official welcome ceremony for Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, and his spouse, who are paying a State visit to Vietnam and attending the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, from August 31 to September 2, 2025. Immediately after the welcome ceremony, the two sides held talks.

Vietnam and Cuba established their diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960. During Vietnam's resistance war against the US imperialists, Cuba emerged as a symbol of international solidarity, taking the lead in the global movement supporting Vietnam's struggle for independence and providing invaluable assistance.
