Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee and President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended a meeting with Vietnamese businesses in Hanoi on September 2.

Recalling the words of leader Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood,” PM Pham Minh Chinh hoped that Vietnamese firms will embrace the spirit of “For Cuba, be ready to devote time, effort, and intellect,” thereby reflecting the steadfast and loyal tradition of the Vietnamese nation.
The Vietnamese National Assembly will continue close cooperation with its Cuban counterpart through increased high-level visits and exchanges, inter-parliamentary group initiatives, sharing of legislative experience, and active coordination at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other multilateral parliamentary forums.
The PM reaffirmed that Vietnam always treasures and preserves its special friendship with Cuba - a model in international relations - nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both countries.

Cuba always values the solidarity and valuable support and assistance of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for Cuba, especially their practical and effective assistance in strategic areas such as rice production, food security, and renewable energy development, said First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The two leaders briefed each other on the situation in their respective countries, agreed on directions and measures to further consolidate and develop the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, and discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Vietnam always bears in mind and remains grateful for the solidarity and fraternal support extended by the Cuban people to the Vietnamese people during their struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past as well as during the ongoing process of national construction and protection, Party General Secretary To Lam said.
Over the past 65 years, cooperation between the two countries has been expanded across all levels, channels, and sectors, with three main pillars: political-diplomatic relations as the foundation, economic-trade-investment as the driving force, and people-to-people exchanges as the bonding element.
On the morning of September 1, at the Presidential Palace, Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse hosted the official welcome ceremony for Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, and his spouse, who are paying a State visit to Vietnam and attending the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, from August 31 to September 2, 2025. Immediately after the welcome ceremony, the two sides held talks.
Despite being separated by half the globe, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has become a model for international relations.
Vietnam and Cuba established their diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960. During Vietnam's resistance war against the US imperialists, Cuba emerged as a symbol of international solidarity, taking the lead in the global movement supporting Vietnam's struggle for independence and providing invaluable assistance.
Over the past 65 years, the Vietnam-Cuba cooperation has developed across the three pillars of politics – diplomacy, economy – trade – investment, and people-to-people exchange.
The signing of the agreement is part of the efforts to concretise the joint statement issued during the visit to Cuba by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam in September last year.
During a working session with Cuban Deputy Minister of Health Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen described the bilateral medical partnership as a vivid symbol of international solidarity, one deeply rooted in the historic friendship fostered by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro.
The seminar addressed various issues, including measures to tackle challenges in digital communication and artificial intelligence (AI) from the perspective of the Global South. Discussions also covered opportunities and challenges in the field of technological politics, which recognises the central role of technology in shaping contemporary political dynamics.
Following his trip to the United Nations and the U.S., Party General Secretary and Staet President To Lam, along with his wife, will pay a state visit to the Republic of Cuba, at the invitation of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and his spouse.
