The figures were announced at a ceremony in Phnom Penh on November 1 to mark the five years since the two hospitals were twinned and the 10 th anniversary of the free eye surgery programme, assisted by the Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital .
Speaking at the ceremony, General Ly Sovan, Director of Presketmealea Hospital, said that over the past five years, Hospital 175 has helped Presketmealea treat several senior RCAF officers, under an agreement signed between the two Defence Ministries.
The hospital has also trained Cambodian doctors in accident and emergency procedures, anaesthetics, cardiac and kidney treatments, endoscopy, digestive disorders and physiotherapy.
At the event, General Sum Samnang, head of the General Department of Logistics and Finance, presented the RCAF’s certificate of merit to Hospital 175 and the HCM City Eye Hospital, as well as the Cambodian Royal Government’s Friendship Order to the three leaders of each hospital./.VNA
Since 2007, Hospital 175 of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF)’s Presketmealea Hospital have worked closely to carry out 2,200 operations on patients who require eye surgery, as well as providing check-ups and medicine to nearly 1,000 others.
