Young orchestra Maius Philharmonic won the first-ever sponsorship from the International Monsoon Music Festival 2015 for their album inspired by traditional music.
Revealing the news on October 7, the festival’s Director Nguyen Quoc Trung said after the end of this year’s monsoon music-fest, the organisation board would consult and support the production of Maius-Chapter One, a project initiated by the orchestra’s conductor Luu Quang Minh based on traditional music.
Maius Philharmonic, formally known as Rhapsody Philharmonic, has brought chamber music closer to the youth through contemporary adaptation in the last five years.
They will debut their new name on October 8 in conjunction with the opening day of the Monsoon Music Festival, which gathers 200 artists from Vietnam and abroad until October 11. WhoMadeWho from Denmark, Samaris from Iceland, Catfish from France and From The Airport from the Republic of Korea are among bands who will rock the night.
First taking Vietnam by storm in 2014, the event received major public appraise. It was considered an outstanding cultural festival for 2014 and won the Best Live Show of the Year title at the Cong Hien (Devotion) Music Awards, organised by The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) – a Vietnam News Agency publication.-VNA
