Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 2,000 cases of measles, including two deaths, have been recorded nationwide so far this year, according to the Preventive Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health.
Since the beginning of this year, Hanoi has recorded 805 cases of measles. Last week, the capital city recorded 89 cases of this disease.
The areas with a high number of cases include Hoang Mai, Nam Tu Liem, Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong, Thanh Tri and Dong Da districts.
The disease is also on the rise in the southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City with 181 new cases reported last week.
Measles cases were discovered in all 24 districts with the majority of cases recorded in Binh Thanh, Thu Duc and Binh Chanh districts.
The outbreak is predicted to continue because many children have not received vaccines, according to the Preventive Medicine Department.
The department warned that people should be more active in getting vaccinations.-VNA
