The rise was attributed to increased industrial production, which was up 1.6 percent in value in August compared to July.

Meanwhile, the industrial production value in the first eight months of this year stood at 13.6 percent, on a par with the pre-economic crisis figure, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Among the enterprises with the highest turnover are those involved in the dairy, animal feed, beer, garments and textiles industries and those manufacturing bricks, ceramic tiles and plastics.

Meanwhile, the number of workers employed in foreign direct invested enterprises rose by 0.8 percent last month compared to July. Non-state enterprises saw a rise of 0.6 percent, while state-run enterprises saw an increase of 0.1 percent.

The GSO said the FDI sector was actively seeking new markets at home and abroad./.
