Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission convened its 29th meeting in Hanoi from June 12-15, during which it looked into disciplinary measures against some Party organisations and members.

Regarding wrongdoings by the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the central province of Thanh Hoa, the commission said the board has violated the principle of democratic centralism and working rules, and showed a lack of responsibility and lax leadership and supervision, thus letting the Party delegation to the provincial People’s Council, the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the provincial People’s Committee, many organisations and individuals seriously violate the Party’s regulations and the State’s laws in planning work, land handover, and the allocation, management and use of budget in connection with some projects, including those by FLC Group JSC and Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC).  Read full story

- Vietnam always considers Côte d’Ivoire one of its top trade partners in Africa, stated Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien when hosting President of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Assembly Adama Bictogo in Hanoi on June 15.

Vietnam can completely supply the African nation goods that it needs, Dien told his guest, suggesting the two nations accelerate their negotiations of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) and a preferential trade agreement (PTA) as well as develop a better cooperation plan. Read full story


-  President of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Assembly Adama Bictogo suggested that Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire should enhance their transport cooperation with specific, substantive activities, at his meeting with Transport Minister Nguyen Van Thang in Hanoi on June 15.

Bictogo, who is on an official visit to Vietnam, said the opening of direct flights will make it easier for traders of the two countries to seek and materialise cooperation opportunities. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 15 for visiting Belarussian Minister of Education Andrei I. Ivanets, during which the host affirmed that Vietnam pays great attention to the special traditional friendship with the European country, and bilateral partnership in education and training.

Ha noted that Belarus has helped Vietnam train many officials and experts serving the country’s national construction and development, especially in the fields of science and technology. Read full story

- The eighth ASEAN Peacekeeping Centres Network (APCN) Conference successfully concluded on June 15 after three days of sitting under the chair of Vietnam.

Col. Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO), said that the conference had completed the agenda, achieving the set goals, thereby further strengthening the partnership on peacekeeping activities among ASEAN members. Read full story

- Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang said on June 15 that Vietnam and the EU have effectively cooperated in defence, in line with the Vietnam-EU Partnership and Cooperation Framework Agreement (PCA), the agreement between Vietnam and the EU on the establishment of a framework for Vietnam’s participation in crisis management activities of the EU (FPA).

The minister made the remarks during his reception for Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti, head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Vietnam who came to say goodbye before ending his working term in Vietnam. Read full story

- The northern port city of Hai Phong will continue to be an attractive destination for foreign investors, said Vice President Aoyama Shigetoshi of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) on June 15.

Hai Phong is one of the leading localities in attracting investment from Japan, with advantages such as improved infrastructure and business environment, and investment incentives, he said at the Hai Phong-Japan Investment Promotion Conference in Tokyo. - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on June 15 officially launched a direct route between Hanoi and Melbourne of Australia, with two round-trip flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays.

Accordingly, the first flight departed from Hanoi in the early morning, and arrived in Melbourne in the afternoon, after nine hours. The plane then returned from the second biggest city of Australia at 3pm (Melbourne time) and will land in the capital of Vietnam at 9:35pm (Vietnam time) the same day. Read full story

- Administrative activities of the People’s Committees of two communes of Cu Kuin district in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, which came under deadly attacks earlier this month, are still taking place as normal while damaged places are under repair, a local official said on June 15.

Providing information related to the June 11 incidents at the headquarters of the People’s Committees of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes, including offices of communal police, Chairman of the Cu Kuin district People’s Committee Vo Tan Huy said the district administration has ordered authorities of these communes to quickly address consequences and stabilise local residents’ life./. Read full story
