Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam has written an article on continuing to strongly innovate the Party's leadership and ruling methods.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with leaders of ministries and agencies in Hanoi on September 16 to thoroughly review the implementation of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy by 2030, with a vision to 2045, as well as other key contents outlined in the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution.

In light of global, regional, and East Sea developments, along with the nation's evolving needs, PM Chinh asked ministries, agencies and localities to continue following the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, including the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution and the Government’s Resolution on national defence strategy in the new situation. - The National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) in Vietnam held its 4th annual mid-term workshop in Hanoi on September 16.

- The Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations has coordinated with other relevant units of the Ministry of National Defence in preparation for the send-off ceremony for Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 6 and Engineering Unit Rotation 3 to UN peacekeeping missions, said its Director Major General Pham Manh Thang on September 16.

The Engineering Unit Rotation 3 with 180 personnel is scheduled to leave Hanoi for the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) on a UN charter flight on September 24. Their goods and equipment will be transported in the fourth quarter of this year, and are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2025. Read full story

- Swiss enterprises have expressed their interest in exploring investment opportunities in the northern province of Nam Dinh while attending a workshop recently co-organised by the Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) and the Vietnamese Embassy in the European country.

At the event, which drew the participation of leaders of enterprises from Switzerland and Europe, strategic advantages of Nam Dinh were spotlighted, including competitive rental prices for industrial land, and abundant workforce with better skills and productivity. Read full story

- Organisations and individuals at home and abroad donated 1,236 billion VND (50.35 million USD), both in cash and bank transfers, to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Central Relief Committee to support victims of typhoon Yagi and subsequent floods and landslides, as of 5 pm on September 16.

In response to the appeal from the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee, various agencies, businesses, organisations and individuals have contributed to the relief efforts. The Central Relief Committee has swiftly disbursed two rounds of aid, totalling 1,035 billion VND, to the affected provinces and cities. Read full story

- The Vietnam Circus Federation's (VCF) aerial duo performance "Lang Biang Love Story" won a silver and two minor prizes at the third Borderless International Circus Festival, held in St. Petersburg, Russia from September 12-16.

The festival drew the participation of more than 200 artists from 15 countries, including Ethiopia, Germany, and China./. Read full story
