Hanoi (VNA) – The Hollywood blockbuster “Kong: Skull Island”, which wasshot in Vietnam, has received an Oscar nomination for Visual Effects.
Oscar nominationsfor the 90th annual Academy Awards were announced on January 24 by Academy ofMotion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
The awards ceremonyis slated for March 4 in the US, which will be broadcast live in more than 200countries and territories.
“Kong: SkullIsland”, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, tells the story of a group ofexplorers who go in search of the birthplace of the lord of giant apes.
The film wasshot at different locations throughout Vietnam, such as Ha Long Bay in QuangNinh, Van Long Natural Reserve and Trang An Complex in Ninh Binh and PhongNha-Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh.
The movie hasbeen seen as a great opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its naturallandscapes to the world and promote tourism.
On March 10,the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Vogt-Roberts as Vietnam’stourism ambassador for 2017-2020.-VNA
