Hanoi (VNA) - Trade between Myanmar and China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) hit 238.5 million USD the six-month mini-budget or transitional period from April to September.
According the latest report from Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce, the Southeast Asian nation exported 230 million USD of goods to Hong Kong, while importing 8.5 million USD of goods from the region.
In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, two-way trade between the two sides totaled 385.63 million USD, 234.46 million USD higher than that of the previous fiscal year.
Myanmar mainly exports precious stones, agricultural products, fishery products and garments to Hong Kong, while importing from the latter telecommunications equipment and optical products.
Trade between Myanmar and Hong Kong has recorded strong growth in recent times, making the Chinese region the fourth biggest investor in Myanmar after mainland China, Singapore, and Thailand.
According to Myanmar’s Statistics Office, Hong Kong poured 7.867 billion USD into 171 projects in the Southeast Asian nation from 1988 to August 2018, accounting for 10.8 percent of the total foreign investment in Myanmar.-VNA
