National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Jan. 11 met with ethnic minority voters in Thien Ky commune, the most difficult commune in Huu Lung district, the northern mountainous province of Lang Son.
About 30 km west of Huu Lung district center, Thien Ky is mostly forest land with an inconvenient transport infrastructure. The commune comprises eight villages with 763 households of 7 ethnic groups, of which Cao Lan makes up nearly 44 percent. Nearly half of the households in the commune are poor.
Hung visited Martyr Mother Tran Thi Tu, a 76-year old poor Cao Lan woman, in Lang Trang village. He asked the commune authorities to pay attention to the local people’s material and spiritual life so as to ensure that nobody in the commune will be hungry or cold, especially in harsh weather conditions.
Hung also visited Thien Ky commune medical station. After learning about the station’s material facilities and capacity, he asked leaders of Lang Son province and Huu Lung district to upgrade the station so as to improve the quality of healthcare service for the locals.
Talking with local people about the construction of new rural areas in the commune, the top legislator stressed that work must be attached to building new cultural life.
Earlier, the NA head and his entourage visited soldiers in Po Ma border post (Trang Dinh District), a hero of the people's armed forces, which is protecting more than 21 km of the northeast borderline.
He asked the border guards to take regular training and enhance political stuff to fulfill their tasks, thus deserving the trust from the Party, State and people. -VNA
