National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong received a delegation of visiting Cao Dai dignitaries in Hanoi on January 21.

Phong spoke highly of the contributions by Cao Dai followers and dignitaries over the past 90 years since the religion was first established in Vietnam , including humanitarian activities to strengthen national solidarity.

She said she hopes the dignitaries will continue the religion’s fine traditions, participate in the campaign to improve the cultural lifestyle in residential areas, disseminate the Party and State’s policies to followers, and contribute their opinions to the draft amendment of the 1992 Constitution.

The guests informed Phong of their charitable activities during the last five years, including their assistance to victims of natural disasters and offering health check-ups and treatment to underprivileged people. Each year, Cao Dai sects help raise over 20 billion VND (1 million USD) for charity.

On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year, Phong also extended her best wishes to 2.5 million Cao Dai followers and over 10,000 dignitaries across the country./.VNA
