Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 9 underlined the need for the renovation of mindset, methods, and visions to create new values and implement the Master Plan for the Red River Delta region with tradition, connections, breakthroughs, inclusion, comprehension, and sustainability.

Addressing the Coordinating Council for Red River Delta Region’s meeting in Hanoi, the Government leader hailed ministries, sectors and regional localities’ efforts in implement the Politburo’s resolution on the development of the region as well as the Government’s resolution to realise it, and their attempts to build the Master Plan for the region in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 and the planning for particular locality. - The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil recently organised a ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam – Brazil diplomatic relations, the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, and President Ho Chi Minh’s 134 birthday. Read full story

- The Land Law 2024, which creates a smooth legal corridor for overseas Vietnamese (OV) to invest in housing in Vietnam, is expected to help Vietnam attract billions of dollars of remittances each year, contributing to promoting the growth of the real estate sector, according to insiders.

In the revised version, Vietnamese people residing abroad who are Vietnamese citizens, and those of the Vietnamese origin residing abroad are eligible to own land use rights at home. Read full story

- The northeastern province of Quang Ninh has topped the 2023 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) drawn up by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) for a seventh time in a row, the chamber announced on May 9.

According to the latest ranking based on responses from 9,100 private Vietnamese firms and 1,500 FDI enterprises, Quang Ninh scored 71.25 points thanks to its incentives to attract investment and improve administrative procedures. Read full story

- The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of the Vietnamese manufacturing sector rebounded above the 50.0 no-change mark, fostering hopes for a stable climate in which businesses can prosper.

The PMI, recently released by S&P Global, rose to 50.3 from 48.8 in March, indicating a slight improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector – the third consecutive one in the past four months. Read full story

- CMC technology corporation opened its office in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 8 as part of the strategy to promote its global operation in the areas of automotive, finance, and banking based on advanced digital technologies.

The event was attended by representative of 200 Korean enterprises who are CMC’s partners, including IT service provider Samsung SDS and Kookmin Bank. Read full story

- The 31st Vietnam International Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition (Vietnam Medi-Pharm 2024), the largest of its kind so far, is hosting 550 stalls of myriad products and technology in Hanoi.

With the stalls run by some 350 businesses from Vietnam and 30 other countries and territories like India, Poland, Germany, and the Republic of Korea, the expo is facilitating exchanges among domestic and international experts, businessmen, and consumers. Read full story

- Projects to promote the modernisation of air quality monitoring and management system in urban areas, and hydrometeorological services in Vietnam funded by Finland is progressing effectively, contributing significantly to improving the capacity of the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) in early warning of tropical storms, strong winds, and heavy rain, according to Finnish Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen. - More than 1 million tourists, including 4,800 foreigners, flocked to the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien from the outset of the year to May 7, according to the provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

From April 30 to May 7, the province welcomed over 370,000 tourist arrivals who came to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The Dien Bien Phu Historical Museum and the complex of the Dien Bien Phu battlefield relics were full to their capacity on the days, hosting thousands of visitors each day. Read full story

- The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong aims to become a green tourism paradise by 2030 and a modern, green, smart and worth-living centrally-run city by 2050.

The goals are set in the province’s master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, which was approved by the Prime Minister in late last year. Read full story./.
