Resolution ratifying theTorture Convention stated that Vietnam does not consider Article 2 item 8in the Convention as a direct legal basis for extradition, saying thatextradition is conducted in accordance with Vietnam’s law.
The country will build and fine-tune its legal system suitable to the Convention, it added.
Meanwhile,Resolution ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons withDisabilities underlined Vietnam’s commitments to implementing thisConvention in all aspects.

TheTorture Convention is one of the important multilateral internationaltreaties on human rights, aiming to eradicate cruel and inhumanetreatment and punishment. It was approved by the UN resolution No. 39/46in 1984 and took effect from June 26, 1987.
The Convention onthe Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was adopted by the UNGeneral Assembly in 2006 and came into force in 2008, intends to protectthe rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.-VNA
