The 13th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee commenced its 37th session in Hanoi on April 6, during which participants gave their comments a draft law on information security.

The law is expected to develop the IT sector and address its pressing issues including cyber attacks, junk mail and illegal trading of personal information.

According to the opinions of attending officials, the law needs to broaden its enforced objects beyond digital information exchange through electronic devices or the internet.

They also suggested providing detailed banned activities and fines in terms of information collection and use.

Speaking at the function, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung emphasized the focal task of the working session is to provide feedback on draft laws slated for submission at the 9 th NA session.

The implementation of the 2013 Constitution and ensuring fundamental human rights are top of the agenda, he said.

The NA Standing Committee’s 37th session will run through April 10.

The 36th session took place from March 9-17.-VNA
