NA Vice Chairman appreciates Japan’s ODA capital

Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) capital coordinated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in the past years, especially in infrastructure development, said a high-ranking law-maker.

Hanoi (VNA) – Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) capital coordinatedby the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has contributed to Vietnam’ssocio-economic development in the past years, especially in infrastructuredevelopment, said a high-ranking law-maker.

Whilereceiving JICA Vice President Yasushi Tanaka in Hanoi on September 10, ViceChairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien also praised JICA’simportant contributions to Vietnam-Japan relations.

Vietnamhas used ODA capital for right purposes and in a transparent and effective manner,he said, adding that the quality of ODA-funded projects has been remarkably improved.

Havingaffirmed the NA’s support for the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategicpartnership, Hien said there remained huge potential for the development offriendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations as well astheir localities.

JICAhelped the Vietnamese NA to improve the qualifications of its office staff,thereby enhancing the legislature’s operations, the Vice Chairman said.

Hiensuggested JICA continue backing Japan’s economic ties with Vietnam and affirmedthat Vietnam always creates favourable conditions for Japanese enterprises toinvest in the Southeast Asian country.

Forhis part, Tanaka said JICA will continue to assist Vietnam in training human resources,improving its investment-business environment and developing itsinfrastructure.-VNA

Vietnam, France boost economic and financial cooperation

Economic ties have continued to grow across trade, investment and development cooperation. Bilateral trade surpassed 5 billion USD in the first eight months of 2026, with Vietnam exporting 3.1 billion USD worth of goods to France and importing 1.9 billion USD worth of products from the European country.
