Hospitals in the northern province of Nam Dinh are working out measures to improve the quality of medical check-up and treatment, while upgrading services for patients, especially those with health insurance.
Nguyen Van Thanh from Hai Hau district recently had an operation on a hernia at Nam Dinh General Hospital, using his health insurance card. Thanh was impressed by the skilled doctors, modern equipment and good service from the staff.
Applying IT, increasing check-up rooms and quickly giving out test result are among of measures the hospital is using to improve check-up quality and better serve patients with health insurance.
The hospital receives up to 1,000 patient arrivals daily. Of the total, 75 percent are outpatients and 85 percent are inpatients with insurance cards.
Nam Dinh province now has 27 provincial, 10 district and about 300 communal medical stations signing contracts to provide check-ups for patients with insurance card. An insurance superintendence system has been put into use to improve management work.
There are millions of patient arrivals using insurance cards every year in Nam Dinh province, with total payments of more than 43 million USD. The use of technology and service improvement has not only helped patients access healthcare service easier but also reduced overcrowding at central level hospitals.-VNA
