The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has pledged to assist Vietnam in realising sustainable development goals, including the protection, care and education of children.
The recent increase of child sexual abuse cases has raised public concern, which requires authorities to scrutinise the implementation of signed international conventions.
Vietnam has made major strides in caring for, educating and protecting children over the past 27 years since the country became the first in Asia and second in the world to ratify the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 1990.
A new law on protecting and caring for children became effective on June 1, with a variety of regulations aiming to comprehensively intensify children’s right enforcement.
