Thanh Hoa (VNA) - Authorities in the central province of Thanh Hoa onMarch 15 launched several new tours linking the province and neighbouringHouaphanh province in Laos.
The tours will connect popular destinations not onlyin Thanh Hoa but also other northern localities such as Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh,Son La and Hanoi with those in Laos’s Xiengkhouang and Houaphanh provincesthrough the Na Meo border gate in Thanh Hoa’s Quan Son district, which bordersHouaphanh’s Viengxay district.
A series of activities will markthe launch ceremony, entertaining tourists in Quan Son and Viengxay district, likea spring fair and the Muong Xia Festival in Quan Son. Locals from the twolocalities will perform an art show and attend a market at Na Meo Border Gate.
QuanSon district is home to beautiful natural landscape along with varioushistorical and cultural relics.
Meanwhile, Vieng Xay hasnearly 500 spectacular caves, which were chosen as a revolutionary base forLaotian leaders between 1964 and 1972. The natural caves run deep into themountains, creating tunnels leading to ‘meeting rooms’ and ‘dining rooms’,where President Khamtay Siphandone and other revolutionary leaders lived andworked. The cave system was turned into a tourist destination for both domesticand foreign visitors in Laos.-VNA
