Hanoi (VNA) – The new version of the news portal of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) was launched at http://www.vnanet.vn (international name) and http://www.ttxvn.vn (Vietnamese name) on June 21.

Addressing the launching ceremony in Hanoi, VNA Director General Nguyen Duc Loi said many stories and a diversity of news types have been provided by the VNA online for a long time, attracting domestic and foreign readers. However, these news provision systems lack consistency in content, technical platform and format, while there wasn’t a system managing common services of those websites.

To enhance the effectiveness of multimedia information products, the VNA has developed a system for distributing multimedia news. This system gathers all information products of VNA units so as to form an official information source with diverse content.

He stressed that the launch of the portal marks a new milestone in reforming VNA journalists’ mindset and methods of information product distribution. The portal is a bridge linking VNA’s multimedia information production system with the public.

He asked the VNA’s technique centre to continue working with partners and units to administer the portal well, ensure absolute information security and regularly update the website’s content and features to facilitate users’ access. Meanwhile, VNA units should capitalise on this portal’s tools and introduce the portal to other press agencies, clients and readers.

The portal is a gateway to existing online newspapers and news websites of the VNA and also a common platform for operations of VNA units.

The VNA, a governmental agency, is the official State news provider of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

It is a media complex consisting of 32 affiliates, including news units providing source news for domestic and foreign media outlets. The VNA also has various publication and press bodies with 10 news sources, along with a television channel, a publishing house, five news support centres, and two printing, trade and services companies.

Boasting a network of 63 representative offices in all cities and provinces nationwide, and 30 overseas representative offices across the five continents, the VNA has a strong contingent of reporters and editors working all over the country and in most of the key locations around the world, which is its unique advantage.-VNA
