Night flights to double for Tet
Hanoi (VNA) – Night flights will be doubled to meet increasing travel demand before, during, and after Lunar New Year Festival – the biggest in Vietnam and other Asian countries, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Normally, each day, airlines in Vietnam operate an average of 106 night flights that are available between 10 pm and 4 am of the following day, but the number will increase to 204 during the peak time of the 2023 Tet celebration, it said.
Noi Bai International Airport will see additional 90 night flights, Vinh Airport 35, Tho Xuan Airport 34, Chu Lai Airport
5, Dong Hoi Airport 9, Cat Bi Airport 22, Lien Khuong Airport 6, Phu Cat
Airport 6, Pleiku Airport 2, Da Nang Airport 34, Phu Bai Airport 29, and Buon
Ma Thuot Airport 3.
According to CAAV, to meet the rising demand and on the basis of the infrastructure capacity of the Tan Son Nhat
International Airport, it requested Vietnamese airlines to allocate
resources for extra night flights to ease congestion at airports during
daytime hours, especially strengthening the exploitation of night flights
departing from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to others.
By now, the airlines have planned to operate night flights to 12
local airports during the period from January 6, 2023, to February 5, 2023 (the
15th day of the last lunar month and the 15th day of the first lunar month of
2023)./.
