Ninh Binh strives to build Trang An as center of “Millennium Heritage city”

After 10 years of being recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural and natural heritage, the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex has proven to be a vital asset and a key driver for the socio-economic development of Ninh Binh province. Trang An possesses all the necessary elements to become a center of the “Millennium Heritage city”.

The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is home to 429 heritage sites, including two special national monuments, 21 national monuments, and 36 provincial-level ones, spreading across 18 communes and districts.

In recent times, Ninh Binh province has issued many directives to help manage and preserve the heritage, while enhancing values of the area once being the first capital of the Dai Co Viet state.

Currently, Ninh Binh is working with UNESCO to conduct a study on the economic valuation of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.

This study aims to support the implementation of the provincial master plan recently approved by the Prime Minister, which envisions the development of Hoa Lu City on the base of Trang An heritage as a millennium-old heritage city.

Additionally, it seeks to develop policies for a sustainable development model tied to the heritage economy, tourism economy, and creative economy.

To develop Trang An as the center of the heritage city, Ninh Binh will focus on preserving its natural landscapes and historical sites.

Besides, it will also establish protected areas to prohibit or temporarily restrict the exploitation of limestone mountain ranges and special-use forests; and promote green economic development./.
