Ninth National Party Congress: Country enters new century
The ninth National Party Congress set out orientation for the country to promote the strength of the entire nation, continue the renewal process and speed up the industrialisation and modernisation cause.
In the spirit of “looking straight at the truth, evaluating the truth properly and speaking the truth”, the sixth National Party Congress affirmed the determination to reform the Party’s leadership in the spirit of revolution and science.
The second National Party Congress was held in Kim Binh commune, Chiem Hoa district, in Tuyen Quang province in February 1951 - the first and only Congress to be organised outside of Hanoi. Local authorities and people have united over recent years to ensure economic development, creating a new face for the revolutionary homeland.
The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee convened the seventh National Party Congress in Hanoi from June 24 to 27, 1991, which was attended by 1,176 delegates representing 2.1 million Party members nationwide.
“Con duong co Mat Troi” (Road with the Sun), a film by the People's Army Cinema, has been chosen to be introduced at a national film screening week to celebrate the 13th National Party Congress, the 91st anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3) and the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
The 13th National Party Congress is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2. To prepare for this key event, the entire political system in the city has been actively and comprehensively taking part in preparations.
Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong on January 22 inspected the preparations for the 13th National Party Congress, which is scheduled to begin next week at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi.
