Entry to all sites at Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh will be free of charge during the lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, from Jan. 23 to Feb. 5, the provincial People’s Committee said on Jan. 20.
The decision represented the gratitude of the province to visitors across the country and international friends, who supported and voted for Ha Long Bay to become one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
According to Phung Duc Tin from Ha Long Bay Management Board, the board has worked out plans to ensure good services and public order in tourism sites as well as protect the environment during this year’s Tet holiday.
Tin said Ha Long Bay usually receives about 7,000-10,000 tourists during the Tet festival but it expects to lure more holiday-makers this year, as there will be three local festivals in the period, which is the Cua Ong temple festival, the Yen Tu festival and the National Poetry Day./.
