Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang speaks at the reception for Buddhism delegations from China, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand (Photo: VNA) Ha Nam (VNA) – Head of the GovernmentCommittee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang on May 12 received delegatesfrom China, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand who are in Vietnam to attend the UnitedNations Day of Vesak 2019 at the Tam Chuc Buddhism Culture Centre in thenorthern province of Ha Nam.
During the reception, Thang highlighted thesound relations between Vietnam, China, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
The countries have joined hands to build peacein the region and nurture the humanitarian spirit of Buddhism, he added.
While underlining the development of Vietnam andVietnamese Buddhism, Thang called on the countries to forge ahead withcooperation and mutual assistance in various aspects.
The guests highly appreciated Vietnam’s hosting ofVesak 2019 and expressed their appreciation for the country’s beauty andhospitability.
The celebration shows the participation of theVietnamese Government and Buddhism in the implementation of the UN MillenniumDevelopment Goals, and is an opportunity for Buddhism countries to increaseexchanges and contribute to their common cooperation, they agreed.
Heads of the foreign delegation said hosting Vesak2019 in Vietnam not only contributes to peace for one country but also bringspeace and solidarity for all of humanity.-VNA
