Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the StateCommittee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Quoc Cuong led a delegation tovisit the UK from June 16-18.

During the visit, thedelegation had a meeting with the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnameseintellectuals’ group in the UK and representatives of Vietnamese students inthe country.

At the meeting with theVietnamese Association in the UK, Deputy FM Cuong affirmed the role andcontributions of the Vietnamese community abroad to the development of thehomeland.

He showed his belief that theVietnamese community in the UK will continue promoting their mutual support andheading to the homeland.

President of the VietnameseAssociation in the UK Vuong Hung briefed the delegation on the major developmentsof the association over the years as well as the aspirations of the community.

Over the past years, theassociation has received great support from the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK,especially in fostering connection with their fellows in the homeland.

In a meeting with Vietnameseintellectuals in the UK, Deputy FM Cuong expressed his delight that Vietnameseintellectuals have made their presence in strong sectors of the host countrysuch as finance-banking, law, economy, IT, pharmaceuticals, and AI.

The group members said thatthey wish to make more contributions to the homeland through projects inVietnam.

Cuong pledged that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs will workhard to connect the Vietnamese intellectuals abroad with their peers at home,thus optimising the potential of both sides.

During hisstay, the Deputy FM also had a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy as well asVietnamese representative offices in the UK.-VNA

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills

In his opening speech, PM Pham Minh Chinh revealed the Government’s plan to submit 63 documents and reports to the 15th NA’s 9th session, including 37 draft laws and regulatory resolutions, all aimed at having a wide-ranging impact on society.
