The event was co-organised by local authorities, theVietnamese Consulate General and the association of Thai people of Vietnameseorigin in the province.
The pagoda was built in the Thailand-VietnamFriendship Park in Khon Kaen per wish of overseas Vietnamese, and has become anattractive tourist destination, according to President of the association DangThi Gai.
Consul General Chu Duc Dung briefed the participantson the original One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi, recognised by the Asia Book ofRecords for its unique architecture.
Khon Kaen’s Deputy Governor Chanchai Sornsriwichaistressed that pagoda is not only a spiritual highlight of local residents, butalso an attractive tourist site.
Currently, the local authorities and the ConsulateGeneral are implementing a project to upgrade the park with total investment ofabout 5 million THB (147,000 USD), which is expected to be completed in 2024./.
