Outstanding contributors to COVID-19 fight honoured

Twenty certificates of merit of the Prime Minister have been awarded to collectives and individuals who significantly contributed to the fight against the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), heard a meeting of the Central Council for Emulation and Rewards in Hanoi on February 20.

Hanoi (VNA) –
Twenty certificates of merit of the Prime Minister havebeen awarded to collectives and individuals who significantly contributed tothe fight against the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus(COVID-19), heard a meeting of the Central Council for Emulation and Rewards inHanoi on February 20.

Speakingat the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also Chairman of the council, askedagencies and sectors to stay vigilant, given the complex development of theepidemic.   

Socio-economicdevelopment should go in tandem with social stability, he said, stressing thisrequires the involvement of the entire political system.

Laudingthe quality of patriotic emulation movements, the leader said they havedirectly contributed to the country’s comprehensive achievements in 2019,helping to increase public trust in the Party and the State.

Heemphasised the need to duplicate emulation movements, and asked localities tolaunch emulation activities with focus on the implementation of urgent tasks.

Theleader urged the council to successfully organise the 10th National PatrioticEmulation Congress that will honour role models in patriotic emulation movementsover the past five years, and launch similar drives in the 2021-2025 period.

Onthis occasion, Phuc applauded the active role of media agencies in promotingrole models and pushing back bad deeds./.
