Outstanding East Sea research works awarded

Outstanding research works on the East Sea in 2014 were honoured with awards from the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi on March 31.
Outstanding research works on the East Sea in 2014 were honoured withawards from the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) of the DiplomaticAcademy of Vietnam in Hanoi on March 31.

Awards were granted to eight research articles, six press stories, and three research projects on the East Sea.

Among the eight research, three were deemed excellent, focusing on theeducation of Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty in 12 th gradehistory curriculum, Vietnam’s foreign policy on the East Sea dispute,and the US Obama administration’s policy towards the dispute.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Advisor to the FESS Vu Khoanspoke highly of the quality of the entries as an illustration of thesociety’s strong interest in the East Sea issue.

Heasked the FESS management council to submit the awardees’ research worksand proposals to relevant State agencies to promote the East Seamatter.

The FESS, established in March 2014, funds research byscholars, students and postgraduates who wish to contribute toprotecting national sea and island sovereignty.

The foundationorganises contests, seminars and discussions on the East Sea issue bothat home and abroad in addition to supporting the publication of booksand newspapers on the topic and granting awards to excellent research.-VNA

Former Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan, 27 others stand trial in bribery case

Among the 28 defendants, former Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan; Le Thanh Ha, former head of the Vietnamese workers management board at the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea; and seven former personnel of the MoLISA Department of Overseas Labour are charged with receiving bribes under Article 354 of the Penal Code.

Measures strengthened to manage, monitor UAVs

Resolution expected to create new breakthrough in harnessing OV resources

The resolution marks a significant shift in strategic mindset, for the first time defining the more than 6.5 million Vietnamese living abroad as a “strategic resource” for national construction, development and defence. Hanoi court to open trial of ex-deputy minister, 27 others in bribery case

The Supreme People’s Procuracy indictment said that from 2021 through May 2025, Hoan, then deputy minister in charge of the Department of Overseas Labour Management, allowed former Director General Tong Hai Nam to direct officials to create difficulties for companies during appraisal of license applications to send Vietnamese workers abroad.
