Over 20,000 Da Nang students join contests on homeland sea, islands

The People's Committee of Da Nang city's Hoang Sa district, in collaboration with the municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, recently organised a ceremony to announce the winners of a contest on writing letters, drawing pictures, making cards with the theme "I love my homeland sea and islands" and another titled "Adolescents and children with homeland sea and islands".

Da Nang (VNA) - The People's Committee of Da Nang city's Hoang Sa district, in collaboration with the municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist YouthUnion, recently organised a ceremony to announce the winners of a contest on writingletters, drawing pictures, making cards with the theme "I love my homelandsea and islands" and another titled "Adolescents and childrenwith homeland sea and islands".

The event was part of a series of activities to celebratethe 25th anniversary of the formation of centrally-run Da Nang city, the 25thanniversary of Da Nang city's management of Hoang Sa island district and the 40thanniversary of establishment of Hoang Sa district.

The "I love my homeland sea and islands"contest attracted the participation of more than 4,500 students. The juryselected 13 outstanding works for each category of painting, writing lettersand making cards, granting one first, one second, one third and 10 consolationprizes.

Through letters, pictures, and cards, participants expressedtheir love and gratitude to naval soldiers who are on duty on remote islands toprotect the peaceful life throughout the country for today and in the future.

Meanwhile, the second, held online, attracted 15,676 entries in threestages for students from secondary schools, high schools, and colleges anduniversities. In each stage, contestants answered 20 multiple-choice questionsabout the homeland sea and islands, the Vietnam Maritime Law,and Da Nang’s 25-year management over Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

The organising board gave away one first, one second, one thirdand 10 Consolation prizes to those who completed the contest with thehighest scores and in the shortest time.

Vo Ngoc Dong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoang Saisland district, said that the contests are of great significance as they offered achance for students to understand more about Vietnam’s sea and islands, and itsefforts to safeguard national sovereignty, thus inspiring patriotism, nationalpride, and raising responsibility of protecting the sovereignty over nationalsea and islands./.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills

In his opening speech, PM Pham Minh Chinh revealed the Government’s plan to submit 63 documents and reports to the 15th NA’s 9th session, including 37 draft laws and regulatory resolutions, all aimed at having a wide-ranging impact on society. Earlier this month, feedback was provided on six other draft laws and resolutions.

PM urges spread of emulation movements to inspire national pride

Commendation must be objective, transparent, and merit-based, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed, noting that legal documents guiding the enforcement of the Law on Emulation and Commendation are nearly complete, ensuring effective enforcement across ministries, agencies, and localities.
