Over 35,700 Vietnamese labourers have gone overseas for work in the first four months of this year, representing 37.58 percent of the yearly target, according to the Overseas Labour Management Department (OLMD) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
In April alone, as many as 9,950 workers were sent abroad. Taiwan (China) became the top destination for Vietnamese labourers with 6,630 people, followed by Japan (2,060 workers), Malaysia (560 workers), Saudi Arabia (350 workers) and RoK (190 workers).
Taiwan, accepting a large number of unskilled workers, continues to be a key market for Vietnamese labourer exports, underpinned by good salaries and legal frameworks protecting both nations’ workers.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese labourers are being welcomed in Japanese and Korean markets in the construction sector.
Workers in the construction sector completing their three-year probationary period in Japan will be eligible to return and work in the country. Japan also encourages high-quality labour exports, such as design engineers, mechanical engineers, nurses and nurse-aids.
Opportunities are also newly available for Vietnamese workers who want to work in the Republic of Korea (RoK), as the two countries extended a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on supplying and receiving Vietnamese workers to the RoK under the Employment Permit System (EPS) on April 10.
Accordingly, 5,400 Vietnamese labourers are eligible to register for jobs in the RoK with a maximum of 2,900 to be chosen to work in the manufacturing and construction sectors in the host country.-VNA
