The southern province of Dong Nai attracted almost 709 million USD from foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first seven months of this year.
Statistics of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment showed that new investment licences were granted to 42 projects with registered capital of 339 million USD during the reviewed period.
Meanwhile, 39 valid projects in the province added a total of more than 369 million USD to their investment capital.
At the same time, the province revoked licences of four projects worth 7.72 million USD.
As a result, the number of valid FDI projects in Dong Nai now stands at 1,037 with a total capital of 19.17 billion USD.
According to the province's industrial-zone management board, as many as 39 countries and territories over the world have invested in 31 local industrial parks.
At present, the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee is calling for investors for five key projects, including the Dong Nai biotechnology centre in Xuan Loc district, the DOFICO industrial-agricultural complex in Trang Bon district and three supporting industrial sub-divisions in Giang Dien, Nhon Trach 6 and An Phuoc industrial parks.
Of the projects, the DOFICO industrial-agricultural complex is the largest in terms of acreage, covering nearly 2,200 ha.-VNA
