Moscow (VNA) – The Vietnamesecommunity in Ukraine and the Buddhist sangha in Kharkov city, on April 30,organised a requiem for Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives to defendthe national sovereignty.

At the event, both Vietnamese andUkrainians in Kharkov offered incense to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Head of the association of Vietnameseexpats in Ukraine Tran Duc Tua said the requiem is an annual activity of theassociation aimed at reminding younger generations of their origin and themartyrs’ noble sacrifice.

A participant of the event, ProfessorValentin Yakusik from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, who hasbeen to Vietnam, said the ceremony pays respect to not only the fallen soldiersbut also Vietnam’s history.-VNA
