The President of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo Méndez has praised Vietnam’s socio-economic development in recent years and expressed his desire to learn the country’s ways to overcome difficulties to obtain such success.
During a meeting with the new Vietnamese Ambassador to Paraguay, Nguyen Van Dao, President Mendez expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s glorious history and preeminent revolutionary leaders. He emphasised that Vietnam and Paraguay should further promote the cooperative ties in various fields, especially agriculture.
Ambassador Dao reviewed Vietnam’s significant achievements in economic growth, the improvement of people’s living conditions, and its poverty reduction policy. He said he hoped that bilateral cooperation would contribute to both countries’ development.
During the two-day working session in Asunción, Paraguay’s capital, Ambassador Dao also met with acting Minister of External Relations, Jorge Lara Castro and General Director of External Commerce Department Brisgido Lezcano Britos.
The two sides agreed that there are good conditions for Vietnam and Paraguay to boost trade exchanges, so they should devise suitable measures to promote bilateral economic ties./.
