Parliamentary friendship group hopes for stronger Vietnam-Thailand ties

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of theVietnam-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group Pham Dinh Toan met on August 15with President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) of Thailand PornpetchWichitcholchai, who is on a visit to Vietnam.

Toan highly valued the visit’s significance tothe Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership as well as the friendship andmultifaceted cooperation between the two legislative bodies. He described it asan opportunity to build trust and understanding between leaders of the twocountries and parliaments.

Applauding the active and effective activitiesof the two parliamentary friendship groups, he said their cooperation hasbecome an important channel of parliamentary diplomacy and a firm bridgehelping to foster relations between the countries’ parliaments and people.

He expressed his hope for the NLA’s continuedsupport for cooperation activities of the two parliamentary friendship groupsto share information about issues of common concern.

At the meeting in Hanoi, NLA President PornpetchWichitcholchai said relations between the two legislatures have continuallybeen reinforced.

He added that he will help the parliamentaryfriendship groups to step up activities since they are critical factors in thedevelopment of bilateral parliamentary ties and Vietnam-Thailand relations.

Before the meeting, the NLA delegation had paidhomage to Ho Chi Minh at the late President’s mausoleum and visited the latePresident relic site in Hanoi.-VNA
