Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on September 10, who is visiting Vietnam to follow up on the agreements signed during PM Dung’s vist to Cuba in March.
During his meeting with the Cuban guest, General Secretary Trong thanked Cuba for its valuable support for Vietnam, affirming his country’s long-lasting solidarity with Cuba .
He proposed the two countries increase their cooperation in all fields, ranging from politics and economics to culture, science, technology and healthcare.
The Party leader expressed his hope that the two sides would set out concrete and practical measures to educate the younger generations on the solidarity and special traditional friendship.
He expressed his belief that the people of Cuba would succeed in transforming the country’s economic structure to continuously move towards socialism under the leadership of the Cuban Communist Party.
In his meeting with the Cuban minister, PM Dung confirmed Vietnam continuously valued its relationship with Cuba, and pledged to undertake maximum efforts to cooperate with Cuba to boost and deepen bilateral ties in all fields of mutual interest.
He expressed his hope that both sides would strengthen coordination efforts to effectively implement the ratified medium-term cooperation programme, with a focus on stepping up trade and investment, as well as enhancing cooperation on culture, education, science-technology, and defence-security, and providing mutual support at multilateral forums and in international organisations.
He suggested the two sides focus on finding ways to implement the agreements signed between respective high-ranking leaders via specific programmes and projects during the upcoming inter-governmental committee meeting in Havana.
In both meetings, the Cuban guest expressed his gratitude for the effective Vietnamese assistance provided to Cuba during its process of nation-building and national development.
