At the meeting, GeneralSecretary Trong congratulated Hu on being re-elected as a member of CPCPolitburo and re-appointed as Vice Premier of China’s State Council, sharinghis hope that Hu will continue to contribute to the growth of ties between thetwo parties and countries.
He lauded the positiveprogress in the relations of the two parties over the past years, especiallythe increase in high-level meetings, as well as exchange between sectors,localities, and youngsters of both sides.
Bilateral affiliationin trade, investment, and tourism has also developed, he said, proposing thatthe two sides continue strengthening high-level meetings, promoting theefficiency of existing mechanisms, and effectively implementing the common perceptionsreached by senior leaders of the two parties and countries. This includes theagreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of issues at sea, thusworking together to maintain peace and stability at sea, as well as managing differencesand avoiding actions that would complicate the situation.
For his part, Hucongratulated Vietnam on its successful hosting the WEF ASEAN, as well as the achievementsthat Vietnam has gained under the leadership of the CPV.
He affirmed that theParty, State, and people of China attach much importance to the relations withVietnam and are willing to work with the Vietnamese side to further bolster thebilateral comprehensive cooperative strategic partnership between the twocountries and realise the common perceptions of both sides.
China is ready toenhance its economic partnership with Vietnam, while importing more goods fromVietnam, he said.
Hu proposed that inthe future, the two countries should continue strengthening high-levelexchanges and meetings, as well as people-to-people contacts – especially amongthe youth, thus reinforcing political trust; promoting strategic connections;and fostering cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities for the stableand healthy development of the partnership between the two parties andcountries. –VNA
