Party General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong met visiting Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong in Hanoi on Feb. 28.
The Vietnamese Party and legislative leader expressed his pleasure to see the development of Vietnam-Laos relations, which have been deepened and become more effective and practical.
He said he hoped that the two governments would continue to work together to direct ministries, branches and localities to implement joint agreements and specific measures to improve human resource training quality and raise two-way trade in order to ensure the process, quality and effectiveness of investment projects.
Party General Secretary Trong also welcomed important achievements made by the Lao Party, State and people in the country’s renewal process and development, saying he believed that the Lao people would continue to attain more achievements and turn Laos into a peaceful, independent, democratic and prosperous country following a socialism orientation.
He also took this occasion to wish Laos success as it organises its ninth National Party Congress and the seventh National Assembly election.
The Lao PM congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the 11 th National Party Congress and Nguyen Phu Trong on his election as Party General Secretary.
He also informed Party General Secretary and NA Chairman Trong of Laos ’ preparations for its ninth National Party Congress and the seventh National Assembly election as well as the good results of his talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung.
PM Thammavong also expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s assistance to the Lao revolutionary cause and affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people would do their utmost, together with Vietnam , to foster the consolidation and development of the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to make it evergreen and sustainable./.
