High-level visits of Vietnamese and US leaders have motivated the growth of Vietnam-US bilateral relations on the foundation of mutual benefit, equality and respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty and political institution.
Along with sound political relations, economic-trade ties have been one of the most successful endeavours within Vietnam-US relations. The US is currently one of Vietnam’s largest trading partners.
Education has been one of the most prominent areas of cooperation between Vietnam and the US, with both sides designing many policies to strengthen bilateral partnership in this field based on the shared view that education is the foundation of national development.
The State visit of US President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. to Vietnam is the next step and the combination of work that have taken place for four decades since the normalisation of the US - Vietnam relations, said Andrew Wells-Dang, a senior expert on Vietnam at the Centre for Asian Affairs of the US Institute of Peace (USIP).
