PetroVietnam launches drilling rig, oil platform

The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) on Sept. 10 launched the first 90m water-depth jack-up drilling rig and the Moc Tinh oil rig at the Vung Tau Petroleum Port.

StatePresident Truong Tan Sang joined leaders of ministries and agencies andrepresentatives from the Russian Embassy and the Russian ConsulateGeneral in Vietnam at the launching ceremony, which was held on theoccasion of the 50 th anniversary of PetroVietnam (Nov. 27).

The drilling rig is a key national mechanical project withPetroVietnam as the investor and PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard as the EPCcontractor.

Vietnam has become one of the threecountries in Asia and of ten nations worldwide to build jack-updrilling rig of international standards recognised by the AmericanBureau of Shipping (ABS),

As one of national keyprojects, the Moc Tinh oil rig is designed and manufactured byPetroleum Equipment Assembly and Metal Structure JSC (PVC-MS). This isthe largest oil platform in Vietnam with a total weight of over14.000 tonnes.

At the ceremony, theRussian-Vietnamese oil and gas joint venture, Vietsovpetro, signed acontract with PV Shipyards, under which another 90m jack-up drilling rigwill be built by the later. /.

Can Tho, Guangxi seek collaboration in logistics, supply chains

Chinese investors now back 35 projects in Can Tho with registered capital of nearly 1.2 billion USD. In the first seven months of 2026, Can Tho’s exports to China hit 77.5 million USD, while imports stood at 64.7 million USD. Key exports included rice, seafood, farm produce, processed agricultural products and apparel while main imports comprised agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines, fertilisers, chemicals, fabrics and other materials and inputs.

Vietnam, Russia move to boost financial cooperation

On bilateral economic, trade and investment ties, Tuan said two-way trade hit 3.24 billion USD in the first seven months of 2026, up 12% from a year earlier. Vietnam’s exports to Russia totaled 1.33 billion USD, while imports amounted to 1.91 billion USD.
