Petrovietnam, PV GAS strengthen LNG supply cooperation with US’s Cheniere Energy

During a working visit to the US, leaders from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) held a meeting with executives of Texas-based Cheniere Energy Inc – one of the world’s largest suppliers of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Hanoi (VNA) – During a working visit to the US, leaders from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) held a meeting with executives of Texas-based Cheniere Energy Inc – one of the world’s largest suppliers of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The meeting aimed to advance a strategic partnership in supplying LNG to Vietnam, meeting the country’s increasing energy demand.

At the event, a PV GAS representative introduced Vietnam’s gas infrastructure and gas market potential. Set to play a pivotal role in meeting Vietnam's energy needs, PV GAS prioritises the development of LNG projects and partnerships with major suppliers to facilitate LNG imports.

With its port system and large-scale liquefaction facilities at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi, Cheniere Energy is capable of meeting Vietnam’s requirements, said its leaders.

They hailed the potential of the Vietnamese market and shared their wish to establish a long-term relationship with PV GAS to ensure supply and price stability for Vietnam amidst the fluctuating global energy market.

Both sides agreed to continue negotiations and discussions to formalise their cooperation agreements serving mutual benefits and Vietnam’s energy sector./.
