Hanoi (VNA) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on October 27 said that he had ordered the country’s Department of Justice to launch a sweeping investigation into graft across all government agencies.
He issued a memorandum directing the department to look into anomalies at state agencies until the end of his term in 2022. It enables the body to decide what allegations to investigate and to work with other agencies.
In a televised national address, he said that the country continues to be plagued with corruption, adding that it is not weakening but getting stronger.
He vowed to focus his remaining term on fighting corruption.
