Philippine police deactivates the bomb found near US Embassy on November 28. (Photo: Xinhua/VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Philippinepolice arrested two men suspected of plotting a bomb attack near the UnitedStates Embassy in Manila, said a local official on November 30.
One of the two suspects was aconverted Muslim, arrested in Manila’s neighbouring province of Bulacan. Theother was a Muslim captured in Manila’s outskirts.
Earlier, the Philippine mediareported the discovery of a suspicious object near the US Embassy on November28. It was found in a bin along with a mobile phone and wires connected to around black object.
Manila police chief Oscar Albayaldesaid that police are looking for three to five other suspects.
He said there is high possibilitythat the Maute group is behind the case, referring to the extreme Islamic groupwhich pledged loyalty to the so-called Islamic State.
The group is suspected of launching abomb attack on November 29 which injured seven guards of Philippine PresidentRodrigo Duterte and two soldiers in Mindanao.-VNA
