Photo contest highlights beauty of Vietnam’s rivers

The fifth annual Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards is accepting submissions from amateur and professional photographers living in Vietnam and abroad.

HCM City (VNA) – The fifth annual Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards is accepting submissions from amateur and professional photographers living in Vietnam and abroad.

The contest, themed Vietnam’s Rivers, aims to highlight the beauty of rivers across Vietnam, as well as the life of people living along rivers.

Le Thanh Hai, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Heritage Magazine, which is organising the contest, said: “The contest aims to find and preserve beautiful images of the country, as well as introduce them to the community, especially young Vietnamese and foreigners.”

Hai said she hoped the photos would raise people’s awareness about preserving Vietnamese cultural heritage.

Participants can submit their works in two categories of single photo and photo essay to cuocthianhdisanvietnam@gmail.com by September 30.

The contest entries will be judged by photographers Hoang Trung Thuy and Doan Thi Tho, and director Nguyen Quoc Hung.

The organisers will give 16 prizes worth 200 million VND (9,000 USD).

The winners will be be announced on November 23 in HCM City to celebrate Vietnam Heritage Day.

The top 100 photos in the competition will be displayed at tourism agencies, museums and universities in cities and provinces, including HCM City, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Hanoi, from October to February.

All the photos will be given to Flood Resistance House, a programme that raises funds for people affected by floods and storms.

Thanks to the programme, 274 houses have been built in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Nam since 2013.

Began in 2012, Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards has received more than 17,000 photos. The organiser has hosted 54 exhibitions in 17 cities and provinces across Vietnam to showcase the photos.-VNA

A group of authors from the Hanoi Press and Radio - Television Agency won the special prize, while A prizes went to Tien Phong newspaper, Quoc Phong Thu Do (Capital Defence) newspaper and the Hanoi Press and Radio-Television Agency. VNA reporters took one B prize and three C prizes.

According to Vietnam Customs, bilateral trade reached 59.43 million USD in the first nine months of 2026, up 9.7% year-on-year. Vietnam’s exports totalled 45.47 million USD, an increase of 10.2%, while imports from Tunisia stood at 13.96 million USD, up 8.3%.

Deputy PM orders nationwide push for first Vietnamese Culture Day

November 24, 2026 marks the first Vietnamese Culture Day, meant to put the Politburo’s Resolution 80-NQ/TW on cultural development into practice. Po Klong Garai: Cham towers preserving centuries of history

The complex comprises three main structures: the Chinh (Main) Tower, Cong (Gate)Tower and Lua (Fire) Tower. The Main Tower stands about 20.5 metres tall, featuring a square base and tiered roofs that narrow towards the top. The Fire Tower, with its distinctive boat-shaped curved roof, adds a contrasting feature to the ensemble. Columns, niches, lotus motifs and decorative patterns adorn the brick walls.

On the morning of October 10, a ceremony was held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi to launch a nationwide campaign encouraging regular physical exercise under the message “Everyone should choose at least one suitable sport to practise regularly”.
